Back to school with Harvest treats | February 6, 2021

It is back to school and the Harvest Launceston Community Farmers’ Market has a basketful of inspiration for packed lunches that boost brain power. Blueberries in particular are a source of good brain food and right now these delicious blue fruits packed with antioxidants are plentiful at the market. Three Peaks Organics has fresh, freeze-dried and coated blueberries that will make a lunch box zing.

If you prefer the colour red, then there are the various berries in their shades of right, ranging from bright red strawberries and currants to the almost black boysenberry. Sheffiled Berry Gardens and Westerway Berry Farm have  a range of berries to brighten up a school day. Westerway Berry Farm. Sadly apricots and cherries are done for another year!

Visit our northern farmers, Laos Fresh Farms, and Steve’s for some lunch box crunch with delicious sugar snaps, beans, carrots and snow peas. Seven Springs has organic vegetables as well as seedlings to grow your own. Lauren and Michael from the award winning Felds Farm have delicious vibrant tomatoes with a wonderful history as well as carrots, zucchinis, beetroots,  radishes  …

Tasmanian Tonic Co. and The Juice Press from down South are at Harvest with some delicious drink options and for something a little different visit QUIWE, a Colombian word that means earth and celebrates amazing fruit that is served in juices and icy poles.

Finally welcome two new stallholders to the market this week, The Devil’s Own Ice Creamery and Tassie Murtabak.
