At Harvest Launceston, we will be celebrating our 7th birthday this weekend! Having commenced on the 11th February 2012 with 25 stalls, we have grown and developed within the Launceston community to become one of the best farmers’ markets in the country, twice winning the gong for Australia’s Most Outstanding Farmers’ Market in 2013 and 2017 at the delicious.Produce Awards and also, in 2018, being named as a State Finalist in the Telstra Business Awards. We’re looking forward to seeing what fun the next 7 years hold!
This week sees celeriac harvested from Elphin Grove Farm in full swing at the market. Matt Preston visited us at Harvest last weekend and revealed himself as a huge celeriac fan. He was only to happy to have a pic snapped with this humble root vegetable! Celeriac is a perfect non-starch substitute for potatoes, use grated in a salad for a subtle taste of celery and parsley, or a delicate puree with crème fraiche and garlic, a delightful root vegetable to savour.
Taste of Tam O’Shanter will have salad vinegars, pickled cucumbers, relishes and chutneys all grown from heirloom seeds on their farm in North East Tasmania. Southern Sky Cheese Company will have smokey mozzarella and truffled Chevre to name a few. Elgaar Farm will have wheels of cave matured cheddars, fresh Halloumi and blue stilton, handmade organic and simply divine. For your breakfast indulgence, pick up a Pain au Chocolat at Sandy’s Sourdough, or try one of the new gluten free Breakfast Bowls from Mount Gnomon Farm
