For better or worse, December has officially arrived. We think for better! However you imbibe the end of your year, there is always something to celebrate. We’re certain that spending some time in and around the Harvest Market, and around a table with your friends and family will help wash off the uncertainty and anxiety of 2021. At least, we effing hope so.
With that in mind, here are the Harvest headlines for the week. We’re sad to see Larry and Alison from Real Beef absent for a little while, we wish them the very best. The flipside is that your friends and ours Luke and Bjarke from Oldway Farm will be filling your meat void by bringing extra stock of their sumptuous beef and pork for you in their absence. Not to be missed is the 28-day aged bacon, and ask Luke about the applewood smoked pork sausages!
In the spirit of wishing people the best, we would be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to wish Paul Sumner of Paul’s Original Hot Sauce the fondest Harvest farewell. Paul and his partner Bryony (of The Tea Equation fame, don’t worry she has a couple of weeks left!) have taken the decision to move on from the market after a wonderful run of many years. We cannot wish enough success and good tidings upon them as they turn over this new leaf in their lives. Congratulations and best of luck!
When a door closes, a window opens, and so it goes that we welcome Jenna Thomas and her newly minted business Cake of Peace! Cake of Peace will be bringing you raw vegan cakes, treats and desserts that celebrate Tasmanian and Harvest producers alike. We always love to see new additions to the Harvest family and can’t wait to see what COP has in store for us. Congratulations and welcome!
With the end of the year so close by, the awards ceremonies are in full swing. Coming up are the Champions of Tourism Awards and the Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards, we wait like nervous gazelle, buttocks a-quiver for the outcomes. We’ll keep you posted!
The SOMA stage will be channelling the spirit of Ringo and the vibe of a rooftop in Savile Row with Beat Street taking to the stage like it’s the summer of 69! Get back into your yellow submarines, prance through the strawberry fields, come together and give peace a chance on the SOMA stage Harvest! Imagine. OK, we’re done now.
