Time and tide they wait for no one. As the end of the year approaches, Harvest is here to alleviate your stress, feed and “water” 😉 your body and mind, and make sure you have every bit of delicious nourishing fare that you and your guests could ever want for. It is a solemn and honourable duty we take a great deal of pride and joy in!
Speaking of pride and joy, we, you, and our community can take endless pride and joy in having been certified as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. This incredible achievement is the result of years of hard graft and collaboration across all sectors of food, industry and education. The Harvest Board and Ops Team would like to extend our congratulations and thanks to everyone involved.
You, dear patron, helped to achieve this too, and you are the driving force for all involved in the bid. You can continue to support Harvest and your community in two very specific ways beyond your feet on the ground and your bums on the seats. We need your votes in the Great Regional Cities Challenge and in the Tasmanian Community Achievement (People’s Choice) Awards. Please, please get voting now by following the links! You’ll be helping build a stronger, better community for everyone.
Being the time of year that it is, we have our seasonal producers beginning to roll in. Most notably this week we see the return of Heathermoor Peonies! The beautiful blooms and their arresting aroma are an evocative treat to brighten your home for a brief period each year. Such seasonal delights are what we live for, their fleeting appearance is not to be missed. A massive shout out to Larry and Alison from Real Beef making a return too! We (and we’re sure, you) have missed them tremendously and we are delighted that they are back, healthy, happy and ready to furnish you with their wares. Another treat not to be missed.
If, like us, you somewhat dread the rush of the Christmas period, we would strongly encourage you to stock up now on anything that has the shelf life to make it to Christmas, and being mid-November that is a LOT of stuff. Honey, seasonings, pickles, jams, chutneys, cured meats… the list goes on and on. Time maybe to start thinking Christmas hams too! We’ll keep you in the loop about that, we promise.
There is never a dull moment at Harvest, and this week is certainly no exception. This Saturday is the biggest of the warmer months so far and is only set to get bigger. Bringing you the vibes from the SOMA stage this week are Eddie and Oompie and our effervescent Salsa Dancers. Look, we know it’s confronting dancing in public, but it is a seriously good way of getting fit and having fun in a safe and judgement-free space (no one is watching you, we promise) so jump in!
