The Harvest Launceston Community Farmers’ Market is on this Saturday as it is every week but with a different shape and a new fresh look with all your favourite stallholders and free parking…
What will change is that the market is taking over the parking area through from Cameron to Cimitiere Streets. But there are still plenty of parking spaces in and around the market. There is free parking about 200 metres down Cimitiere Street at the Willis Street car park (the current site of the National Automobile Museum).
Come down and explore.
Although we have a new look, the same farmers and producers will still be there with their incredible bounty of local produce.
Meet our volunteers who will be on hand at the gates and Harvest stall with a map and the details of where to find the freshest morsels. Take a photograph of yourself and your favourite Harvest produce, tag #freshlookharvest and post to Instagram.
Take a peek inside our FOGO bins and find out what waste goes where. As technology keeps pace with waste management, corn starch called bioplastic, is replacing plastic linings in paper cups, plastic cold beverage cups and straws. So remember that most food containers in use at the market are compostable only. For example single use coffee cups and clear bioplastic cold drink cups are NOT recyclable as they do not contain any plastic.
As the exciting new hotel development for Launceston begins to take shape on Tamar Street, our part of this asphalt city car park will still be transformed into a vibrant award winning community farmers’ market that brings locals into town to shop for fresh produce, catch up with friends and neighbours and support the local economy.
See you on Saturday for a fresh look at the Harvest Launceston Community Farmers’ Market.
