Thirlstane Gardens was established in 2010 and is situated in the heart of the vegetable growing region on the North West coast of Tasmania. A small family business, it is run by Graeme Lodge with the valued assistance of wife Kym and their three daughters.
The business produces seasonal salad greens and herbs, with quality and freshness a trademark. Some value adding takes place through the year, such as making basil pesto over the summer.
Thirlstane Gardens combines scientific and organic inputs to minimise the environmental footprint. Efficient use of precious resources is a priority such as using captured rainwater and a closed loop irrigation system. Re-useable packaging is also incorporated when appropriate and the business is working towards being self-sufficient in electricity in the future.
