Oh my goodness we had an earthquake! Sort of… but if you thought you felt the ground shaking on Wednesday, prepare to feel the earth move under your feet again with this tectonic news: It is Asparagus season everyone! Party. Down. The rush to the market for the magical seasonal spear from Headlam Farm is likely to crack the pavement.

The delicious headlines this week include the fortnightly return of Tamar Valley Eggs and Bruny Island Oysters. Exhibiting on our rotating roster of distilleries this week is Corra Linn Distillery. We’re also extending a warm welcome back after a short hiatus to Fork it Farm.

As the mercury climbs and the daylight hours lengthen, so does our list of seasonal stallholders. Joining the Harvest family for the first time this week is The Green Flower Farm, who are growing seasonal flowers, in the field, using sustainable and organic principles. produce a range of annuals, perennials, bulbs, and foliage plants to create seasonal floral arrangements, they are sure to liven up your lives and tables. Wunderbar! We wish them amazing success.

We can’t wait to see the tiny occupying force of minions and underlings of the Launceston Learning Festival trotting around the market this week. What they’re learning, we’re unsure! But hanging around the market long enough, everyone learns a thing or two!

If you’re like us and love organising things, then you’ll know that preparing for the silly season now is well advised. Take the chance to stockpile those staples like sauces, chutneys, jams, and pickles from the likes of KimchiMe, A Pinch of Tasmania, Taste of Tam O’Shanter, Tas Natural Garlic and Tomatoes, or Sheffield Berry Gardens.

Raising the curtain for your enjoyment on the SOMA stage this week, we have the fabulous Conrad Keeble and the one and only songstress, Laura Bye. Both have been capturing our attention in recent weeks and we can’t wait to feel the vibes they bring this week!

One thing is for sure if you’re looking for meal inspiration this week, follow the lead of the Ops Team’s meals! Bragged about around the office this week has been sirloin on the bone with braised leeks, “beef bacon” with poached eggs and hollandaise, and spring leaf salad with 41 Degrees South hot smoked salmon and Red Cow Persian fetta dressing. Incredible!

The Market keeps getting bigger and better as spring takes full effect. This week will be no exception. See you there! x
